Go Home
by Sara Genge
“I’m sick of this job,” said the guardian angel, as he served himself Christopher’s best Jack Daniel’s.
It had been a rough day for both of them. Christopher was still sore from the car crash, and the angel lifted his glass to his mouth with a shaking hand.
“I want to go home,” the angel sobbed. “I can’t stand it anymore. It’s too stressful.”
“I’m sorry, I’m a test-driver for Ferrari. What do you want me to do about it?”
“Die soon. This was never my first career choice. I miss Heaven, I miss Him!”
Christopher blanched; his guardian angel was having a nervous breakdown. He could imagine his funeral with snowdrops and lilies, mourning relatives, and one happy celestial being itching to go home, even before Christopher’s body went cold in the grave.
“Thanks for sharing that.” Christopher turned on the computer and googled jobs.
